Beaman Family, Dessert
1 small pkg. orange Jello
3-4 c. Grapenuts cereal
3/4 c. sugar (scant)
2 c. boiling water
1/2 c. currants
3/4 c. raisins
1 c. chopped dates(if using pre-chopped,use less sugar)
3/4 c. chopped pecans
3/4 t. cinnamon
1/4 t. cloves
Mix gelatin, Grapenuts and sugar.
Add water.
Cool.
Cook currants and raisins in a little water until soft.
Drain if necessary.
Cool.
Combine with gelatin mixture.
Pour into gelatin mold and chill.
Serve with whipped cream.
Mom served this at every family Christmas gathering all through my growing up years. I understand this dish was a Beaman family tradition.
